Recording For Guitarists Part 3 – The Gear
I’ve gotten a bunch of emails asking me what to buy in order to get started, so I thought I’d try to address the issue. GSI doesn’t carry any of the stuff I’m talking about, so I have no bias there, but I still have a few caveats: I haven’t used most of the products I’m talking about, so I can only really explain what does what and how it works; you can spend anywhere from nothing (assuming you already have a computer) to tens of thousands of dollars on this stuff; there are so many brands and models of each thing to choose from that there’s no way I can cover them all, but this should help you figure out what, if anything, you need to buy.
Erez Perelman is just finishing up a new flamenco for us and he sent us these photos. The last flamenco we got from him was kind of amazing, so we’re all looking forward to this one. Click on the images to see them bigger, and click again for even bigger.
As promised, here are more videos from Scott Morris that further illustrate some of the pieces in his new book ‘Classical Guitar Complete: From Basics To Bach.’ In the first video he looks at bringing out the melody in a piece by Sor, and in the second two videos he looks at right hand arpeggios in an etude by Aguado which also has some tricky left hand stuff.
News from Matt Hinsley and the folks in Austin about a guitar program in the Travis County Juvenile Justice System, new music on GuitarCurriculum.com and more good stuff.
