One of the many highlights of our ‘Valseana’ Live’ concert with Marc Teicholz this past January was his amazing performance of the Bach Chaconne on the 1952 Hauser I’ve written so much about (and that Eva Beneke is using now to record her new CD). The pairing of this guitar and this piece seems perfect, as it obviously did to Marc, who chose to play the Chaconne on that guitar, and the performance is just fantastic.

I agree… and the guitarIST is amazing!
He was pretty amazing too and even though that D string kept slipping he managed to turn it up without missing a beat. And to be able to play that whole Chaconne virtually with his eyes closed is impressive as well. I wonder if he practices in the dark…wouldn’t surprise me.
Incredible performance and I don’t think I have ever heard a CG with such fidelity across all strings and all positions.
That guitar is absolutely a beautiful sounding instrument.

Sorry to disagree, but I think that this is not the best guitar for this movement, notes sound very percusive (and it is not Marc’s playing as seen in other videos).
The Chaconne is a soft melodic composition that needs a subtle and very long crescendo until we get a explosion of music, which is not perceived here. Violinists need to be very careful not overdoing it.
Perhaps the sound compression for the web erased all the magic?

I agree with jff ,the Hauser sounds too brash at times.
This Hauser sounds good enough in a modern way.
I would like more if this guitar were more spanish with deep bordon.
Fleta’s Torres replica is my favourite between these videos.
